Carole Lombard and Clark Gable had a passionate yet tragic marriage that began in 1939, while Gable was filming Gone With The Wind. According to author Robert Matzen, during their marriage, Gable did not remain faithful to his wife and hooked up with his 21-year-old co-star actress, Lana Turner.
"Gable was self-centered and never felt it necessary to have self-discipline when it came to sex outside the relationship because he had a sense of what a catch he was."

Unfortunately, Lombard died in 1942 while flying home to save her marriage with Gable.
