Good morning angels! Pictured here are television’s darlings, Charlie's Angels back in the '70s. Charlie's Angels ran from 1976 to 1981, for a total of 110 episodes in its five seasons. It follows three crime-fighting women who work for a private detective agency owned by a mysterious billionaire named Charlie Townsend (who directs his angels via speakerphone).
The original cast (pictured here) was Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett-Majors, and Jaclyn Smith in the leading roles, with David Doyle co-starring as a sidekick. After Fawcett left the show, Cheryl Ladd stepped in. Later additions were Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts.

Her career stayed strong after The Brady Bunch went off the air. She’s done extensive work on Broadway in addition to numerous film and television appearances. She did “Dancing with the Stars” in 2010 and she even had her own show for a while, The Florence Henderson Show. She worked on Who's Cooking With Florence Henderson and did regular guest popups in the show “Samantha Who?” which earned her an Emmy nomination. She married twice, is the mother of four children, and died of heart failure in November of 2016.

Here's a classic shot of actors Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis on the set of Ghostbusters. The 1984 supernatural comedy, Ghostbusters (1984), was directed and produced by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. In it, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis are lovably eccentric parapsychologists who start a literal ghost-catching business in New York City. Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis also co-star as a client and her neighbor, as does Ernie Hudson who plays Ray, the Ghostbusters' first recruit.
Aykroyd initially conceived Ghostbusters as a project for himself and fellow Saturday Night Live alumnus John Belushi, with the "Ghostmashers" travelling through time and space. Now it’s an iconic film that was ranked 28th in its AFI's 100 Years...100 Laughs list of film comedies. Then in 2015, it was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the United States Library of Congress.

Pink Floyd was originally formed in London, but their progressive and psychedelic music quickly achieved international success. They distinguished themselves from other psychedelic groups of the time with their philosophical lyrics, extended compositions, and elaborate live shows. Not only did they become one of the most commercially successful groups of the era, but also one of the most influential groups in music history.

The actress launched her career in the theatre and then began appearing in films in the late 1950s. Her more prominent films came out of the 1960’s, such as Rome Adventure (1962) and Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963). She later appeared in various television shows, most notably was her role as Emily Hartley on The Bob Newhart Show, which she played from 1972 until 1978. She received several Emmy Award nominations for her work on the show. It wasn’t until 2004 that she retired from acting, which was four years before her death at age 70.

Nicole Kidman’s acting career began in Australia, earlier this same year. Her big breakthrough role, however, didn’t come until 1989 with the thriller Dead Calm and the television miniseries Bangkok Hilton. Then in 1990, her Hollywood debut came in the form of the racing film Days of Thunder, opposite Tom Cruise–With whom she had a very high profile marriage and later divorce.
Kidman went on to achieve wide recognition with leading roles throughout the 90s and 2000’s. Now she’s won numerous awards for her work in film and has maintained her position as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF since 1994.

Rob Lowe had roles ranging from Sodapop Curtis in 1983s The Outsiders to Rory in Square Dance in 1987 (which earned him a Golden Globe nomination). Lowe still looks good and has been acting nonstop since the ‘80s. Notable projects in recent years have been The West Wing, Parks and Recreation, and the animated Moonbeam City to name a few. He also recently launched his own paranormal investigation reality-tv aeries called The Lowe Files.
When a catty newspaper columnist supposedly said Marilyn Monroe would be better off wearing a potato sack, she did just that in this photo from 1951.
Marilyn Monroe has long sat high up on the list of hottest women in Hollywood history. That old saying about someone looking good, even look good in a potato sack applied first figuratively and then literally to Miss Monroe. Thanks to studio reps at Twentieth Century Fox, they proved Marilyn certainly could look good in anything. What sparked this strange experiment was a comment made about a revealing red dress Marilyn wore to a party at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The columnist called her cheap and vulgar and went on to suggest the actress would have looked better in a potato sack. So, there it was, Marilyn Monroe looking just as good in burlap as she does in any slinky designer dress.

Check out Fleetwood Mac back in 1977 with their superstar Rumours lineup – Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood. The band has gone through over a dozen members over the years but pictured here is arguably the best they’ve ever been.
An interesting factoid from Stevie Nicks, she said the inspiration for the song "Gypsy" actually came from back before her days of Fleetwood Mac fame. Back when she and Lindsey Buckingham had very little and had to sleep on a mattress on the floor.
She said it was decorated in lace, with a vase and a flower at its side and when she would start to feel her fame getting to her, she goes "back to her roots," and puts her mattress on the floor and sleeps there. She even goes so far as to decorate it with "some lace, and paper flowers."

It just doesn't get more fantastically (terrifyingly) "80s" than Let's get Physical with Olivia Newton-John! It's basically one of the most iconic songs of the decade, and certainly an iconic video.
America’s sweetheart, pop-culture icon, and four-time Grammy award winner Olivia Newton-John is one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. After starring in the musical film Grease in 1978, her life changed forever. She has also been a long-time animal right and environmental activist and after going into remission from breast cancer, she became an advocate for health awareness and driving fundraising efforts.

Before she became the actress Jayne Mansfield was a nightclub entertainer, a singer, and also one of the early Playboy Playmates. By the time the 1950s were in full bloom, so was Mansfield, she became a major Hollywood star of the 1950s and early 1960s. She was also very well-known for pulling off carefully planned and executed publicity stunts like wardrobe malfunctions as well as allowing her personal life to be well-publicized.

Partying hard on Sunset Strip! It's Stevie Nicks, David Lee Roth, and Bonnie Raitt back in 1978! The iconic Sunset Strip is a mile-and-a-half stretch of Sunset Boulevard that passes through West Hollywood, California. It extends from West Hollywood's eastern to its western border with Beverly Hills. It’s the best-known portion of Sunset Boulevard, because of its number of nightclubs, rock clubs, boutiques, and restaurants. In the 70’s, the strip became a popular hangout for musicians. From the disco to punk rock, new wave music and even glam-rock and heavy metal music during the 1980s, the Sunset Strip has continued to be a central focus for music and nightlife in general.

Gleason was one of many celebrities of the era who put their names on Tour events. The 1975 Honda Pro-Am 1975 was one of them, as was Inverrary Classic Pro-Am, in 1978. Both of which, he played golf with Jack Nicklaus, Bob Hope, and President Gerald Ford.
"That was a fun day, but it was total chaos," Nicklaus said. "Could they do it today? Probably not. We had a huge crowd that day. With the way the galleries are today, you'd have five times that many."

The child actor had his first run-in with the police right after his breakthrough role in Heathers in 1989. Believe it or not, he was actually involved in a police chase which ended when he crashed his car into a telephone pole. He then proceeded to kick the police officer chasing him and tried to hop over a fence! He was charged with a DUI, evading police, and assault with a deadly weapon… what weapon, you ask? His cowboy boots.
Then in 1994, he was arrested again, this time for taking a gun onto a plane.

Check out this groovy shot of Julie Ege. The Norwegian actress and model appeared in many British films of the 1960s and 1970s. She made her film debut in a low-budget Norwegian film Stompa at Sea. Then she went on to become a Penthouse Pet of May which landed her a role in 1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service as Helen, the "Scandinavian girl".
From there, she was off to land the starring roles in Creatures the World Forgot and The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires. She is probably best known for the 1971 comedy hit film Up Pompeii alongside, which she was in alongside Frankie Howerd.

Actress, singer, and author Tina Louise is best known for her role as Ginger Grant on Gilligan's Island from 1964 to 1967. Ginger Grant was the sparkling diva of the island, constantly dressing glamorously and name-dropping as if fame and social status mattered while stranded on an island. Tina Louise landed her breakthrough role in 1958 with the film God's Little Acre, for which she took home a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year. Louise had many starring roles in big Hollywood films like The Trap, The Hangman, The Stepford Wives, Day of the Outlaw, and For Those Who Think Young.

Here's actors William Shatner (Captain Kirk) and Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock) chowing down on their lunch break while on the set of Star Trek. Despite its short run, Star Trek the original series is widely considered one of the most (if not the most) influential science fiction TV series ever produced. It’s gone on to spawn four spinoff shows, an animated series, and the movies just keep coming and show no signs of stopping. It may not have gained impressive ratings during its initial 1960s run but oddly enough it gained popularity while in syndication and now it's pure sci-fi gold.

Holy hair Lisa Hartman and Alec Baldwin getting close in this promotional still for Knots Landing back in 1985. The soap opera was a spin-off of the series Dallas and aired from 1979 to 1993. Set in a fictitious coastal suburb of Los Angeles Knots Landing, the saga-like storyline was initially centered on the lives of four married couples living in the same cul-de-sac, Seaview Circle.
Alec Baldwin played Joshua Rush and Lisa Hartman played two roles, she was Ciji Dunne for 17 episodes before her character was murdered. Then she returned as Cathy Geary Rush, Ciji's doppelgänger, who just showed up after being released from prison (which sounds absurd but makes perfect sense when ensconced in the soap opera universe). She eventually marries Joshua Rush (Baldwin) - who became abusive towards her.
By the time Knots Landing wrapped up, it had become the longest-running primetime dramas on U.S. television after Gunsmoke and Bonanza.

Marilyn Monroe's attempt at playing softball in high-heeled wedges (on sand) doesn't seem to be going to well. Clearly, former hubby Major League Baseball player Joe DiMaggio didn't give her any pointers. The two were married on January 14th, 1954 and nine months later they called it quits. They were very different people, and Joe tried to control Marilyn's career. The famous couple quickly became known for their squabbling and outright yelling matches. The brief romantic relationship was full of drama but Joe remained a loyal friend to her even after they divorced.

Here she is, beaming while getting the autograph of 16-time Grammy winner and former member of rock band “The Police’, Sting. It’s always fun to see famous people before they were famous, but it’s even cooler to see them ogling the idols of their youth. Gwen shared this photo of her and the rock legend on her Twitter account along with the words: “chunky me 1983. getting @officialsting autograph backstage.”

Here’s a photo of Ted Dabney and Nolan Bushnell, the co-founders of Atari with Al Alcorn and Fred Marincic. This bunch played a crucial role in creating Pong, which in turn, helped launch the entire video-game industry! Allan Alcorn created Pong as a training exercise assigned to him by Bushnell.
Dabney and Bushnell ended up walking away from Atari, they founded it together in 1972, Dabney left in 1973 and Bushnell left in 1979 after selling the company to Warner Communications. Bushnell’s love of games didn’t end there though. He simply merged it with pizza and in 1977 launched Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre aka Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza!

This series of adorable, iconic shots of the Italian screen goddess Sophia Loren, and the King of rock and roll, were taken back in 1958. It was in February and they were both at Paramount Studios at the same time. Elvis was filming King Creole and Sophia allegedly “flipped over Elvis” when she saw him.
These photos were taken by photographer Bob Willoughby who said Loren spotted Presley eating lunch in the Paramount commissary and decided she’d make herself at home while introducing herself to the 23-year old musician. She plopped right down on his lap gave him a kiss, and even played with his pompadour. As you can tell by the photos that came of the interaction, Presley didn't mind one bit!

Here's a very sleek Jamie Lee Curtis on the escalator at the First Annual American Cinematheque Awards back in 1986. This was when her career really started to take off, however, she was already quite famous for dominating the horror scene of the ‘70s. It's just that she wasn't taken too seriously as an actress then. It wasn’t until her role in Trading Spaces back in 1983, that she started getting true notoriety outside the horror genre. Although... she'll always be everybody's favorite "Scream Queen".

John Joseph "Jack" Nicholson is certainly one of ‘Hollywood’s Greats’. He has a career spanning over 60 years so far and throughout it, he has taken on an impressively wide range of both starring and supporting roles. There’s no boxing Nicholson in, he can be hilarious or terrifying. He’s taken on satirical comedy, romance and extremely dark portrayals of antiheroes and psychopaths. With 12 Academy Award nominations, Nicholson is the most nominated male actor in the Academy's history! Nicholson is also one of only three male actors to actually win three Academy Awards. He has won six Golden Globe Awards, received the Kennedy Center Honor, and was one of the youngest actors to be awarded the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award.

The rock vocalist, songwriter, actor, and author is best known as both an original member and now current and current lead singer of hard rock band Van Halen. He also had a successful solo career during his two-decade break from Van Halen, He rejoined the group in 2006 for a North American tour that ended up becoming the highest grossing tour in the band's history. In fact, it was the highest grossing tour of the entire year! A year later, Roth was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

What a bright, peaceful looking day in California, must have been summertime with all that skin showing. This young woman looks like she's heading to the community pool in that bonnet.
It was during the counterculture of the 1960s that women began protesting for equal rights.... and somehow equal rights often ended up looking like a lot fewer clothes. The mini skirt became wildly popular during this time, as did the halter top and the bikini. Up until this point in time, women were essentially just mothers, housewives, and sometimes secretaries or hairdressers. Everything that represented this old “idea of what women should be” was tossed out and that included clothing, especially bras!

Here's a great shot of Dean Martin and Angie Dickinson on the set of Rio Bravo back in 1958. This was one of Angie's early breakthrough roles, the first was "Gun the Man Down" (1956) and then came the 1959 Western Rio Bravo, for which she received the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year.
Over the course of her six-decade career, Dickinson has appeared in over 50 films in addition to her television work. Her resume boasts big titles such as Ocean's 11 (1960), Jessica (1962), Point Blank (1967), Sabrina (1995), and Pay it Forward (2000) to name a few. From 1974 to 1978, she starred as Sergeant Leann "Pepper" Anderson in the crime series Police Woman. A role for which she received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama. She also earned three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Pictured here is actress Cassandra Peterson without her horror hostess garb on; Elvira Mistress of the Dark is Cassandra’s most famous character. Prior to that she was a showgirl and had dancing and modeling gigs. But it was as the host of the weekly horror movie presentation, “Elvira's Movie Macabre,” that Cassandra quickly achieved genre icon status.
Between her revealing, gothic appearance, quirky personality, and Valley girl-type speech, her rise in popularity came as no surprise.
Throughout the late 1980s and into 1990s, Elvira-themed computer games were released: “Elvira: Mistress of the Dark”, “Elvira 2: The Jaws of Cerberus”, and “Elvira: The Arcade Game.”

Here's just one of the many photos of Debbie Harry looking effortlessly cool, this time at Coney Island back in 1977. The music icon rose to fame as the frontwoman for Blondie. The group she and guitarist Chris Stein co-founded. They were pioneers of the punk scene but were noted for their eclectic mix of musical styles. They incorporated elements of disco, pop, and reggae. For this, they are credited with introducing mainstream American listeners to alternative elements of Rock and Roll in the late 1970’s. Blondie has sold 40 million records worldwide, is still active, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.

Here's singer Frank Sinatra and his wife at the time, actress Ava Gardner. Gardner's third and last marriage was to Sinatra, the couple lasted from 1951 to 1957. She would later say in her autobiography that he was the love of her life.
She recalled their interaction just prior to their first date; “He was so handsome, with his thin, boyish face, bright blue eyes, and incredible grin. And he was so enthusiastic and invigorated, clearly pleased with life, in general, himself, in particular, and, at that moment, me.”
He asked her out soon after that. Apparently, the two went for a late-night drunken drive from Palm Springs to Indio. Sinatra had a .38 on him and they shot out streetlights and store windows as they drove by!

The Harlem Globetrotters are an exhibition basketball team that combines their athleticism with elements of theater and comedy in their style of play. Each year the team plays over 450 live events worldwide. To date, they have played more than 26,000 exhibition games in a total of 122 countries and territories over the years. They are noted for their official mascot, an anthropomorphized globe named Globie and the “team's signature song”, which is Brother Bones’ whistled version of "Sweet Georgia Brown". The team is currently owned by Herschend Family Entertainment with executive offices based in suburban Atlanta.

There are a plethora of adorable mother-daughter photos of Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher. This one from 1959 is particularly amazing because they are in matching outfits. These two were so close that it's inspiring. The famous mother-daughter duo even died within hours of each other in 2016 and are now sharing a tombstone at Hollywood's Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Each woman is iconic on her own, but legendary together. Debbie Reynolds will always be best remembered for her breakout leading role, as Kathy Selden in Singin' in the Rain (1952). Carrie Fisher will probably always be best remembered as Princess Leia. But she had many hit films on her resume and was also a celebrated as an author. Some of her notable films are Shampoo (1975), The Blues Brothers (1980), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), The 'Burbs (1989), When Harry Met Sally... (1989), Soapdish (1991), and The Women (2008).
Czech beauty Olga Schoberová was often compared to Brigitte Bardot and Ursula Andress because of her beauty and acting talent in the 1960s.
Here we have a stunning photo of Czech beauty Olga Schoberová. It’s easy to see why she was often compared to Brigitte Bardot and Ursula Andress. The talented actress of the 60’s had that pouty-lipped, blonde bombshell thing going for her.
Olga was born in Prague, Czech Republic and was married in 1967 to Brad Harris. They were divorced by 1969, but had one, Babrinka, who they called "Sabrina". She remarried and spent 20 years with John Calley before divorcing. Her last film role was the comedy science fiction, You Are a Widow, Sir in 1970.

Here’s a shot of Bill Bixby as 'David Banner' in The Incredible Hulk (1978-82). Many people may not know this but, Bond villain Richard Kiel was originally cast as 'The Hulk', not Lou Ferrigno. However, as they began filming the pilot, the producers decided he wasn't bulky enough for the role after all. They went ahead and reshot his scenes were reshot with Lou Ferrigno, but one scene with Kiel as the Hulk remains in the pilot intact. It’s brief, but it’s a high-angle shot of the Hulk looking up at a tree just before he saves a girl from drowning in the lake.

Best known for her starring role on the sitcom That Girl (1966–1971), the television actress has been awarded four Emmys, a Golden Globe, the George Foster Peabody Award, and has been inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame. She is also now known for her award-winning feminist children's franchise, Free to Be... You and Me. Marlo Thomas also serves as National Outreach Director for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and she was the creator of the hospital’s Thanks & Giving campaign.

Style, grace, elegance… these are the words that come to mind when Audrey Hepburn is mentioned. Active during the Golden Age of Hollywood, Hepburn is the embodiment of all that was sophisticated and glamorous of her era.
She’s been recognized as both a film and fashion icon: ranked by the American Film Institute as the third greatest female screen legend in Golden Age Hollywood, in addition to being inducted into the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame. Her poise must come from her ballet studies as a child and then later her performances as a chorus girl in West End musical theatre productions. She was destined to become an icon.

Aww, so cute. Pictured here is former world boxing champion George Foreman getting a big kiss from his sweet little daughter Mitchy. She was paying daddy a visit at the gym on his farm in Marshall, Texas.
Foreman, also known as “Big George”, competed from 1969 to 1977, and then again from 1987 to 1997. He is a two-time world heavyweight champion and an Olympic gold medalist. Aside from his career in boxing, he is an ordained minister, author, entrepreneur, and grillmaster. His product, the Foreman Grill, has sold over 100 million units worldwide!

Here is a shot of the beautiful Natalie Wood in the 1962 musical comedy/drama Gypsy. The script is “based on the Broadway hit about the life and times of burlesque dancer Gypsy Rose Lee and her aggressive stage mother, Mama Rose.”
Natalie Wood was a child star that successfully transitioned into more mature roles as an adult. She is best known for screen roles such as Miracle on 34th Street, Splendor in the Grass, Rebel Without a Cause, The Searchers, and West Side Story. The remarkably talented young star had already received three Academy Award nominations before she turned 25 years old.

Tina Weymouth is best known as a founding member and bassist of the new wave group Talking Heads. She also co-founded its side project Tom Tom Club, with husband and Talking Heads drummer, Chris Frantz. In 2002, Weymouth was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Talking Heads.
Joseph Saddler, better known as Grandmaster Flash, is a hip hop recording artist. He’s considered to be one of the pioneers of hip-hop DJing, cutting, scratching and mixing. In 2007, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, making them the first hip-hop act to be honored.

Long gone are the days of the record store, but so are the days of hanging out at any of the music stores that used to populate shopping malls across the country. Much like the record stores before, the music store offered people (mostly teens) a place to go look at all the c.d's out, pre-order upcoming new releases, and score a new blacklight poster for their room. But alas, it is no more. Now iTunes has taken over and all we have left to remind us of these good ol’ days is the movie Empire Records.
