1970s News

Old News stories from the 1970s feature some of the most important moments you've probably never heard of unless you lived through that era. headlines shape every decade and decide what people will remember, en masse for the rest of history. News reports from the mid-century pop culture boom are great because they fill in the holes of what it was actually like to live in that era. You can read all the history books, Wikipedia articles, and watch all the Netflix specials you want, but actually going in and reading what people read back then, and what their day-to-day struggles looked like, are a way to take news nostalgia to the next level. 1970s news was a much more formal affair, with writing that had grammar standards, and with news stories that were incredibly well-researched, well thought-out, and that organizations used to pay a lot of money for. Your average "reporter makes a fraction of what they used to, and just about anyone with a laptop can become one these days. In the 1970s, though, news stories were a little less salacious, but oh man were they filled with information that was "okay" then that absolutely would not fly today. These are the most interesting, fun, shocking, horrifying, cool, and well-curated news reports from the '70s that will make you glad you don't have to go to the library and scroll through a microfiche for these news stories.✌️
