The Beauties of Hee Haw!
Hee Haw was a variety show featuring country music and cornpone-humor. Although it only aired from 1969 to 1971, it remained popular in syndication until 1997. Despite the fact that the premise of the show was inspired by Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, it was much less mainstream period-topical, and more centered on the life of the farmer and the rural culture.
The, one-time, popular variety show, Hee Haw, featured countless country music greats and stars including, Roy Clark, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and, the recently, late Mel Tillis. The show was popular across the country; from New York City to California; even attracting the socially, elite acting community. Hee Haw’s popularity crossed all demographic lines. It was being viewed by both younger and older audiences as well as all ethnicities and religions. No matter what the demographic, beauty sells.
