It should come as no surprise that, over the years, red-headed people, especially red-haired girls and red-haired women, have often been stereotyped. It has been said that redheads have an unmatched ire as part of their personalities and that it is best not to cross them. It has also been said that redheads are extremely sensitive, passionate, sexy and, at times, can be on the devilish side.

Red-headed people are somewhat of a rarity.

The truth is that red hair is considered to be a genetic mutation that less than 2% of the world’s population shares. The mutated gene, MC1R, must be carried by both parents for their offspring to be a redhead. A person can be a carrier of the "offending" gene but not have red hair themselves. Red hair is not specific to any one demographic and can be found in any ethnicity.
