Although it seems that so many Hollywood marriages end in divorce, Anne Bancroft and Mel Brooks had a love that lasted as the two of them continued on their intertwined career paths. When they met, they had both found success in their careers (although Brooks was only starting to find his), and that success would only continue.

By The Time They Met, She Had Two Tony Awards 

In 1952, Anne Bancroft made her screen debut in Don’t Bother to Knock. Over the course of the next five years, she appeared in 14 additional films. In 1958, she made her Broadway debut in Two for the Seesaw, starring opposite Henry Fonda. She won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play. The next year, she won a second Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play once again, this time for her performance as Annie Sullivan, the woman who teaches Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker. In 1953, she married Martin May, and by 1957, they were divorced.
