Filming on the feature-length pilot started almost immediately and The New Original Wonder Woman was released on November 7, 1975. Unlike its predecessor, it was an instant hit. Elated by the pilot's success, ABC ordered two more film length television episodes which aired in April 1976, followed by an order for a further 11 short episodes.
